Paragliding over the cliffs of Albena.
Description:
Albena is one of Bulgaria’s most famous Black Sea resorts.
Paragliding is a recreational and competitive flying sport.
A paraglider is a free flying foot launched aircraft.
Albena is one of the most famous seaside resorts on the Black Sea coast and is named after a character in a drama by the Bulgarian writer Yordan Yovkov.
Photo Notes:
Early morning on the beach I saw a number of paragliders catching the thermals and flying over the sand.
I realised that they were flying from the cliffs overlooking the beach.
I grabbed my photo bag and went up to the top of the cliff where they were quite close overlooking the sands and the resort of Albena.
As they were moving about, sometimes further, sometimes nearer I felt a zoom lens was the best choice.
I used my Canon 70-300 IS zoom although the gliders were near enough to use the shorter focal lengths.
I tried in many cases to get some back lighting and exploit the clear colours of the gliders and the sky.
