Russian Folk Dancer in Bankya in Bulgaria.
Description:
There is a strong tradition of folk dancing and singing in Bulgaria and frequently singers and dancers from other countries participate in the local festivals.
Bankya is town on the very edges of Sofia and like other towns in Bulgaria it has a day of municipal celebration when the population enjoy a day of dancing and singing.
Photo Notes:
I was not expecting the celebrations when I arrived in Bankya for a stroll around the town but luckily I had my photo bag with me.
The sunshine was very harsh which made it difficult for me to use the slow shutter speed I wanted to get the blurred effect.
In the end I added a little emphasis using the blur facility in my old Photoshop Elements 2.
My objective was to get rid of the minute detail and produce a semi abstract emphasising the colour and movement.

Russian style nested dolls on sale in Sofia the capital of Bulgaria.
Description:
These Russian style nested dolls also known as Matryoshka or Babushka dolls are on sale on market stalls in Sofia.
(Babushka means fat old woman or granny).
Photo Notes:
There is a craft and antique market in the square surrounding Alexander Nevsky Memorial Cathedral Church and like all markets there are plenty of photo opportunities.
I was attracted by the diagonal composition and the light of the early morning sun and took a grab shot using my Canon 70-300 IS zoom.
