Photo Comments:
Photographing monuments seems easy.
They don’t move or change much.
For a photographer the challenge is that it’s easy to just take “Me too” pictures.
On the other hand abstract approaches may be artistically satisfying but may not convey the reality of the monument.
For this picture I waited until I felt the lighting was right.
I chose a low angle to emphasize the grandeur of the subject.
One tip is always to consider other viewpoints than your own eye level.

The Saint Sofia or Hagia Sofia church in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
The Saint Sofia or Hagia Sofia church is one of the oldest in Sofia and is now one of the most valuable pieces of Early Christian architecture in Southeastern Europe.
The church has been rebuilt many times since the fifth century and was used as a mosque during the years of Ottoman occupation until it was badly damaged by earthquakes.
The building today without its decoration and frescoes is comparatively plain with attractive patterned brickwork.
Outside the church is the permanent flame of the Unknown Warrior.
