Statue of John Atanassof in Sofia.
Description:
John Vincent Atanasoff (October 4, 1903 – June 15, 1995) was an American physicist and electrical engineer of Bulgarian descent.
In a 1973 decision he was confirmed in a patent suit as the inventor of the first automatic electronic digital computer, a machine that has come to be called the Atanasoff-Berry Computer.
This statue is outside the Bulgarian Telecommunications Building in Sofia.
The sculptor was Valko Tsenov and the piece was cast by the Cariera monumental casting company.
Photo Notes:
For this photo I decided to make a square format image by taking two vertical shots and later stitching them together in Photomerge.

The Statue of Sofia in Sofia, Bulgaria.
This newly famous and controversial statue often called Saint Sofia dates from 2001 and was designed and built by Georgi Chapkanov and Stanislav Konstantinov.
It stands in central Sofia where its tall pillar is symbolic of new growth.
The Goddess figure holds the symbol of wisdom and fame in her hands.
A laurel wreath is interwoven into her hair and she also wears the crown of Tjuhe – the Goddess of Fate.
The statue stands on a sixteen-metre high pylon riveted with stone and on which scenes of the city’s thousand-year old history are represented.
This site is where a statue of Lenin once stood.
